Hand Quilting Techniques -- All Levels Participants learn proper way to make quilting stitch, stipple
quilting, trapunto, and more. Students receive a pattern before class
so that design can be marked on muslin before class. Quilting designs
and how to use them are also discussed. Special Needs for class:
Chalk board, Chalk, eraser, table and chair, and a quilt rack. Basic Applique -- Beginners Participants learn basic finger press method of applique; learn to
applique pointed leaf, and yo-yo flowers. Basic Applique with Trapunto and 3-D Flowers -- All Levels Participants will learn finger pressed method of applique. They
will learn a method of trapunto (stuffed work), applique a leaf with a
point, make folded rosebud and yo-yo flower. Designing Your Own Traditional Quilt -- All Levels Participants study award winning designs; work with one, two, and
three block designs and borders to go with them; My 10 point design
checklist will be discussed. Students will draw quilt blocks on graph
paper. Quilting designs are also discussed. Students should have some
practice in drawing quilt blocks on graph paper. 3-D Applique -- All Levels Participants learn basic finger press applique in addition to
stuffed applique, yo-yos, gathered flower, folded rose, and ruching. A
pattern is given to participants before class so that design can be
marked on background fabric before class. Ruched Heart -- All Levels Participants learn basic applique and learn to turn points;
applique a bias strip, a rose, yo-yo flowers. and ruche a heart shape.
The heart in this class is a smaller version of the one in More Conway
Album Blocks - Hearts. 3-D Applique/Dogtooth Border -- All Levels Participants learn basic applique, ruche a flower, make yo-yo
flowers, folded rose buds in a bow-tied design as well as applique a
dog-tooth border around it. Special Needs for Class: Chalk
Board, chalk, eraser, table & chair for me, quilt racks for hanging
quilts if available. Appliqued Basket with 3-D Blooms -- All Levels Participants learn to weave a basket using bias strips. Bias strips
are basted down and then appliqued. Basket is filled with ruched
flower, yo-yos, and folded rose buds. Techniques are found in More
Conway Album Blocks-Baskets. Sunflower Surprise -- All Levels Participants will learn to applique a stem and a leaf, ruche the
center of a sunflower, fold the sunflower's petals, and sew borders to
a small wall hanging. Flower fabrics in different colors will produce
flowers other than sunflowers. Sewing Machine required. Mystery Quilt -- All Levels Participants will use fusable web method of applique to create a
fabric picture. Lots of fun! Parts of the picture are given out
progressively during the day. Students share fabrics and learn about
composition, color, and design in the process. Blue Birds -- All Levels Participants will learn finger-press method of appliqué; learn to
turn perfect points; make stuffed circles, yoyos; and get help in
color choices. Irma Gail's book More Conway Album Blocks-Blue
Birds, is the soruce for this class. Students will make
Bluebird. Books may be ordered from Irma Gail for $15.00 plus
$1.75 postage or they may be purchased at a quilt shop. Irma
Gail will bring some books to class. Baltimore Album Style Blocks -- 6 hr. classes -- All Levels Participants will structure a Baltimore Album style block by
placing several different flowers and leaves in a circle, cross spray,
heart, or square design and then will learn applique techniques to
complete the block. Techniques in Conway Album (I'm Not From Baltimore) Quilt
-- 2 Day Class -- All Levels Participants learn finger press applique, perfect ovals &
circles, stuffed applique, yo-yos, ruching, gathered flower, folded
rosebuds, and appliqued dogtooth border. Pattern will be sent early. Baltimore Album Style Blocks -- All Levels Participants learn fingerpress applique, many 3-dimensional
techniques including ruching, yo-yos, gathered petals, folded
rosebuds, blue bells, ribbon flowers, stuffed circles, and more. All
of these techniques will be used to create a beautiful Baltimore
Album style block. Quilt Designs: What to Put Where Ideas are presented to show how to come up with designs which can
be used to quilt a particular quilt. Slides are also shown. Members
of the audience are invited to bring quilt tops for quilting design
considerations. Designing your Own Traditional Quilt Slides show award winning quilts, and we examine why they are
such good designs. my 10 point design check list will be discussed. Slides of my Quilts Slides show progression of quilts from the first one to the last
